Benefits of the ILEX Route
Law remains the most popular choice for students seeking a
university place. According to UCAS, almost a quarter of all
university applications are for a place to study law, Many students
seeking a career in law through a university degree are going to be
disappointed this summer as the annual scramble gets underway
for that elusive university place in an increasingly
competitive market.
With around 15,000 law places available, more than 80% of
law applicants will be rejected and the lucky ones will face
the prospect of crippling debt at the end of their course. The
average student debt on leaving university is approaching a massive
£33,000 and many would-be students are now being forced to review
their options, faced with the prospect of having to struggle for
many years to pay of their debts.
ILEX offers you an alternative route to a career in
law without having to study at university and without the resulting
debt. ILEX is one of the three officially recognised routes to
becoming a lawyer and offers a cost-effective way of gaining the
key qualifications needed for a career in law. Through a variety of
options, from studying full-time at a higher education
establishment to part-time and distance learning, our students
cover a similar syllabus to a university law course, but have the
option to earn a salary and work within the legal environment at
the same time, gaining valuable experience in the process.
“Many promising would-be lawyers don’t even make it on to a
university law course, which is a loss to the profession.” said
Alison Hollyer, Head of Education at ILEX. “And those that do face
the prospect of leaving university with crippling debts. Not every
student seeking a career in law will be lucky enough to be
supported by parents or have independent means to fund their course
and the decision to go to university is becoming an increasingly
hard one to make.
“ILEX offers you the opportunity to ‘earn and learn’ and
the flexibility for study which will cover most student
circumstances, whatever your background. Training does take longer,
but the real-world experience and practical skills gained at the
same time can prove invaluable in giving you a head start
in your law career. ILEX also offers the ideal training route
if you've chosen to study law later in life and have a family
to support. We can even help you progress your if you are
a law graduate struggling to get a training contract after
graduating." Click here for details on exemptions.
