ILEX Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma in
Law
The ILEX Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma
in Law is the second stage of training to become a Legal Executive
and is equivalent to honours degree level. The syllabus requires
you to study four courses, one being a legal practice subject with
its linked law subject and two other law subjects of your choice.
It is at this stage that you will need to decide what area of law
to specialise in.
Each subject is assessed by a three-hour
unseen exam. The tables below show the six legal practice subjects
and their linked law subjects, as well as the remaining law

Which legal practice subject
should I choose?
By the time you are working towards the second
stage of your academic training it is likely that you will know
which area of legal practice you want to specialise in. If
you are not yet working in a legal environment, then we recommend
that you choose the legal practice subject that you enjoyed most at
Level 3, unless you feel that local employment opportunities lie in
another legal practice area.
