Certificate & Diploma for Legal
Secretaries
The Certificate and Diploma for
Legal Secretaries are recognised by the Council for Administration
(CfA) as Technical Certificates for the Apprenticeship and Advanced
Apprenticeship in Administration. You can choose from the following
range of qualifications:
City &
Guilds/ILEX Level 2 Certificate for Legal Secretaries:
Unit 1 – Legal Word
Processing
Unit 2 – Working in the Legal
Environment.
To achieve the full
qualification, you will need to pass an externally-set
proof-reading test, as well as a series of assignments.
City &
Guilds/ILEX Level 2 Award in Legal Information
Processing:
• Legal Information
Processing
A new single-unit level 2
qualification, covering spreadsheet techniques, using databases and
underpinning knowledge on the principles of case management.
City & Guilds/ILEX
Level 3 Diploma for Legal Secretaries:
Unit 1 – Advanced Legal Word
Processing
Unit 2 – Business Skills in the
Legal Environment.
In order to achieve the full
qualification, you will need to pass an externally-set
proof-reading test, as well as a series of assignments.

• Advanced Legal Information
Processing
A new single-unit level 3
qualification covering advanced spreadsheet techniques, such as
database manipulation, including producing reports; integrating
data from different applications into a word-processed document
e.g. graphs, charts, reports, graphics. Each single-unit
qualification is assessed by one assignment taken under timed,
controlled conditions.
